The people crushed in the mill of inflation are being pushed further into this quagmire as the price of flour in Punjab is likely to go up by Rs. 138 in the coming days, according to official data. It may be more expensive. The final decision will be made by the cabinet.

According to the details, the next official price of wheat in Punjab will be 1650. This will further increase the burden on the exchequer. The purchase of wheat at Rs. 1650 per quintal will cost the government Rs. 2350.

Flour will be more expensive with the proposal to increase the release price of wheat to Rs. Sources said that the price of 20 kg bag of flour may go up if flour is released to the flour mills at 1725. In the coming days, the price of 20 kg bag of flour may go up to Rs. 988.

Yesterday, Chief Secretary Punjab Jawad Rafiq Malik chaired price met to take control review of measures, chief secretary in Lahore parts flour ordered strict action under the law against the vendors involved in taking notice of sale over fixed rates.
