Electricity Rates Are Expected To Increase By Up To Rs. 2 Per Unit

The price of electricity is anticipated to increase by Rs 1.5 to Rs 2 per unit, which will enforce an additional burden of more than Rs 162 billion on the people.

According to the details, the federal government has started preparations to increase the price of electricity while preparing to impose more burden on the people trapped in inflation, unemployment and lockdown.

Sources said that the government is showing the possibility of increasing the price of electricity by Rs 1.5 to Rs 2 per unit. If this increase in electricity prices takes place, it will impose an additional burden of Rs 162 billion on the people trapped in the mill of inflation.

According to the document, ISCO wants to collect more than Rs 16 billion, LESCO 28 billion, GAPCO 13 billion, FESCO and MEPCO 23 while PESCO wants to collect more than 29 billion rupees.

HESCO has requested Rs 10, CASCO Rs 14, SEPCO Rs 4 and Tesco more than Rs 88 crore. NEPRA will hear the arrears applications on June 3, after which final approval will be given.
