Federal Government’s Decision To Shift The Industrial Sector To Electricity

The federal government has decided to shift the industrial sector to electricity to get the power sector out of crisis. Orders have been issued to provide electricity connections to more than 500 industries by December this year.

According to sources, orders have been issued to supply electricity to all distribution companies, including LESCO, after which gas connections will be disconnected, while it was decided not to disconnect the applicant industry till March.

It is to be noted that the federal government had disconnected the industries generating electricity from gas a few days ago due to which the federal government ordered to provide electricity connections to the industrial sector on priority basis.

Sources said that the industry would be shifted to electricity for payment of capacity charges. In winter, more electricity is generated than demand on which the federal government decided to supply electricity to the industrial sector according to the power generation.
