The Punjab government has issued licenses to eight companies wishing to invest in Punjab to set up cement factories.
Provincial Minister for Minerals Hafiz Ammar Yasir while talking said that the province is moving towards development under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar. An investment of Rs. 30-35 billion is made in a cement factory. There will be an immediate investment of about Rs 300 billion.
In the previous government, there was a ban on setting up new cement factories in Punjab due to which no investment could be made in this sector like other sectors. When Hafiz Ammar Yasir, the PML-N provincial minister for minerals, took charge, he took over this sector. The ban was specially lifted and the department was directed to provide facilities to those interested in the sector to attract investment.
In the light of Hafiz Ammar Yasir’s instructions, the Minerals Department issued licenses to three companies in the Mines Committee meeting on July 14 and issued NOCs to the Industry Department, while today issued licenses to five more companies for setting up new cement factories.
