The federal government has announced to provide relief in electricity bills to commercial and industrial consumers. The government will pay a bill of one lakh to four lakh eighty five thousand rupees.
The government has issued relief packages to consumers and directed electricity distribution companies to implement them. The govt. has decided to offer relief to commercial and industrial consumers from five kilowatts to seventy kilowatts.
The government will also pay a bill of up to Rs 100,000 for commercial consumers and Rs 485,000 for industrial consumers. Bills will be paid on units used as per last year, while those who use more units this year will have to pay additional bills themselves.
On the other hand, All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Union protested in front of the Press Club. The protest was led by Khurshid Ahmed, General Secretary of All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Union, which was joined by a large number of workers of LESCO region.
Khurshid Ahmed said that two employees have died due to electrocution in a few days. Provision of safety equipment to the employees should be ensured. The employees also protested against the non-payment of bonus by the federal government on Eid. And he said that bonus should be given to those who ensure uninterrupted power supply in summer. He said that the line staff is also working on the front line in Coronavirus.
