The federal government has officially endorsed the wheat policy 2025-26 which is a significant move towards the stabilization of the national grain market. The federal and the provincial governments under the 2025-26 wheat policy will retain strategic reserves of approximately 6.2 million tonnes. The government will buy wheat at 3,500 per maund (40 kilograms), which is in line with the international import prices. The price mechanism will be used to ensure that the company remains competitive in the domestic market without jeopardizing the farmers. The National Food Security Committee will conduct weekly supervision meetings, which will monitor the progress of procurement and reserves management.
