The Sindh transport authorities have made progress on the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) after giving the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) a go-ahead for the completion of underpass and flyover construction plans.
The Frontier Works Organization (FWO) will partner with the Sindh Department of Transportation to revive the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project.
A significant session to revive the KCR project was held today under the chairmanship of Sindh Transport Minister Awais Qadir Shah, attended by transport secretaries, FWO officials and representatives from other concerned departments.
It is agreed that FWO will build underpasses and flyovers on KCR tracks, while the provincial transportation department will create the security wall on all the roads. It is noteworthy to mention here that Rs5 billion funds had been allocated by the Sindh government to construct the underpasses and flyover.
In a written order, Karachi Registry of the apex court had directed the Sindh government and Pakistan Railways to work with each other to complete KCR’s restoration process.
In addition, it was the responsibility of the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) to complete the construction of 10 underpasses along KCR route.
