It was set up in 1975. It is a Lahore-based public school of medicine, nursing and related health sciences. Jinnah hospital is a teaching hospital connected to the college.
Allama Iqbal Medical College Complex has a 105-acre (42 ha) channel campus that includes fundamental offices, administrative block, library and fountain pavilion, complex lecture theater and canteen. It offers 1000 medical learners, 200 interns, 500 nurses and a colony of 200 employee buildings with housing facilities.
A sports centre with separate men’s and women’s gymnasiums, swimming pool, tennis courts, soccer and cricket grounds and an auditorium with seating capacity of 1500 was also built for additional and co-curricular activities.
The library complex has a lobby and offers the professors and students with different teaching opportunities. There are two primary library parts: the primary room and the website next to the head librarian’s desk. A collection of 28,000 books and numerous newspapers are housed in the primary room. Most books and publications are medicine-related and associated areas and authored by internationally renowned writers. There are 14 global medical journals and 20 domestic medical journals subscribed to the library.
The library has a range of encyclopedias, dictionaries, Islamic encyclopedias, novels and poetry from English and Urdu in addition to the medical books. The latest addition to the library complex is the Internet store.
