Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park is a wide playground in Lahore, Pakistan. The park is one of the biggest in the town and has an area of over 270.000 m2. It is located in the Allama Iqbal Town residential district. The name Gulshan-e-Iqbal is literally interpreted as “the Iqbal Garden,” which refers to Iqbal, Pakistan’s national poet. It is a famous place for households with many leisure trips for kids and adults. The vast artificial lake and a mini zoo are also present.
There were some safety problems in the park. The park is well preserved by the local council and lately, because of enhanced public interest, fresh play fields and tours are introduced.
Incidents
- During a trip from a recreational boat to another in the 80’s, a person died.
- In the Gulshan e-Iqbal Park car park, near the main port, near the recreational park, at least 72 people died and more than 300 people were injured. The Jamaat-ul-Ahrar Taliban group took charge. The assault took place.
