Background & History

The whole thing began in the 1960s, when Wilbur Hardee opened its first Hardee in Rocky Mount, North Carolina and sold customers a hamburger with charcoal, easy service and drive windows. Nearly 200 Hardees restaurants, including foreign venues such as Heidelberg, Germany, remained at the end of the decade.

Their history in the field of Middle East and North Africa dates back to 1981 when the Americana Group in Kuwait opened its first outlet in Hardees. Headquarters in 32 of America’s 50 states and in more than 200 branches in the Middle East and North Africa area today runs over 2,000 fast service restaurants.
