Abkari Rd, Anarkali Bazaar
These tea houses are located in every town, and entertain people of various races and colors, castes and creeds. Where along with tea and qehwa; there are discussions on every perspective of the world. A tea house was built in Lahore, at the bank of Mall Road toward Neela Gumbadd, during British rule in 1939 and 1940.
This tea house was called “Tea House of India.” Where people used to come from different school of thought. But no one even imagines that this tea house will become a center of literary personalities, authors and poets.
Now Pak Tea House is designed so beautifully and superbly. Instead of benches, sofas are set. There was also a modernization of the house. The eatables prices are kept higher which poets and writers cannot afford. As a Tea House it has been turned into a mini restaurant. Girls and boys from various institutes are used to coming here for the passage of time, which literary worlds cannot understand.
Ambiance & Setting
The photographs of the literary personalities around me uplifted the place’s past and purpose. The small corner library housed those book writers who once were a part of this café. You will enjoy consuming tea cups while exchanging their prose and verses with each other, telling fictions, novels and praising or criticizing the work. The revolutionists are smoking and thinking about theories, ghazals, revolutions, campaigns, and what not on tiny wooden tables with pens and papers, some definitely burnt with ashes. You will think of several such things in this spell of time before a large group of Halqa Arbab-e-Zauq entered the café and went upstairs for some meeting.
Pak Tea House offers its guests a very calm, reflective and comfortable environment in which to contemplate and create new ideas. Because of its open and fun atmosphere it has become a centre of literature and learning today. There you can see full day get-togethers, tea feasts and lengthy conversation over time. While Pak Tea House’s juvenile years have gone, in 2012 Punjab Govt took great initiatives and renovated the tea house that insinuated a flare of happiness among the circle of literacy. Today, this cultural heritage resembles a futuristic European Teahouse with all its luxurious interiors and grabbed worldwide attention.
