Shops and small businesses have been closed for two months in major cities of the country, including Lahore, after easing of lockdown in view of coronavirus threat. The business will be open in Punjab from 8 am to 5 pm but shopping Malls and plazas will remain closed. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, traders are allowed to open shops and markets till 4 pm, while in Balochistan, shops and markets are allowed to open till 5 pm, but public transport is still banned.

Meanwhile, doctors have opposed the government’s decision. Pakistan Medical Association President Prof Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Nizami has said that the government ‘s decision to ease the lockdown is not for the benefit of the people.

Dr. Ashraf Nizami said that due to lack of training, 660 health professionals in Pakistan have been infected with the coronavirus and have not been trained to wear protective kits and dispose of them.

It may be recalled PM Imran Khan had recently announced a relaxation in the partial lockdown from May 9, after which business has been allowed to open across the country under the agreed rules, on which doctors have expressed reservations. Across the country, doctors and paramedics have been infected with the coronavirus, while four doctors have died from the coronavirus.
