The second generation MG ZS is in Pakistan — and the biggest change from the original is the powertrain. The ZS has been completely redesigned, grown in dimensions, and — most significantly — two of its three variants now offer a hybrid powertrain for the first time. Starting at Rs65.9 lacs for the base and topping out at Rs74.9 lacs for the fully loaded hybrid, the new ZS positions itself against some of the most competitive subcompact hybrid SUVs in the market.

✅ Price Lock — No Tax Revision Risk on Launch Pricing MG has announced that the launch pricing is limited-time and will not be affected by any future tax changes — a significant guarantee in Pakistan’s automotive market, where mid-cycle price revisions are common. Buyers who book now at Rs12 lacs are protected against any tax-driven price increases before deliveries begin in September.
Three Variants, Two Powertrains
The ZS second generation launches in three trims. The Vibe is the entry-level model — naturally aspirated, lower spec, and priced at Rs65.9 lacs. The Hybrid+ Excite and Hybrid+ Essence both use the hybrid powertrain, starting at Rs70.9 lacs and Rs74.9 lacs respectively.
The Rs5 lacs step from Vibe to Excite buys the hybrid system, which adds 212hp combined output, 465Nm of torque, and the 3-speed hybrid transmission. The hybrid also brings meaningful fuel efficiency gains over the naturally aspirated unit — which matters significantly for buyers considering long-term running costs in Pakistan’s elevated fuel price environment. The Rs4 lacs step from Excite to Essence adds the full top-spec feature set including ADAS, the panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and the 360° camera.
ℹ️ Hybrid Premium — Worth It for High-Mileage Buyers The Rs5 lacs gap between Vibe and Excite is effectively the price of the hybrid system. For buyers who will keep the car for several years and cover meaningful mileage, the fuel savings from the hybrid powertrain can partially or fully offset that premium — particularly as petrol prices remain elevated.

Who It Competes Against
The hybrid variants enter a genuinely competitive segment. Direct rivals include the Jaecoo J5, Haval Jolion hybrid, Honda HR-V e:HEV, Suzuki Fronx Mild Hybrid, and Toyota Corolla Cross HEV — a mix of Chinese, Japanese and Korean nameplates that have collectively defined the subcompact hybrid SUV market in Pakistan.
The Vibe (naturally aspirated) faces a separate set of competitors: the Peugeot 2008, non-hybrid Honda HR-V, Suzuki Fronx, Toyota Corolla Cross, and non-hybrid Haval Jolion. In this segment, pricing is tighter and the differentiators shift to features, brand perception and after-sales network.
⚠️ After-Sales — The Long-Term Question for MG Buyers MG’s competitive position will be shaped significantly by its after-sales network and parts availability. Chinese autobrands entering Pakistan have historically faced questions about long-term service support. MG’s track record from the first-generation ZS provides some data — buyers should assess local service centre density and parts lead times before committing.
