Monsoon Rain Is Likely To Begin Today

The PMD warned on Sunday about more heavy rainfall in Punjab, AJK, G-B, and the northeastern part of Balochistan.

Potential Flash Floods and Urban Flooding

The forecasters warned of flash floods in a day or two in AJK, northeastern Balochistan, and the highland streams of Dera Ghazi Khan due to the heavy downpours. Urban flooding was expected in the Pothohar region of upper Punjab.

High-Alert Areas for Beating Weather 

It predicted wind and thunderstorms at Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Narowal, Sialkot, Lahore, Layyah, Bhakkar, Taunsa, Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Sahiwal, Okara, Khanewal, Bahawalnagar, and Bahawalpur.

PMD Prediction

The PMD prediction also held out the possibility of landslides in Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galyat, and Kashmir due to rains, which could disrupt the flow of traffic. It also mentioned that the weather would remain hot and humid in most districts of Balochistan. Weather Forecast for Lahore

However, Zhob, Barkhan, Kohlu, Sherani, Musakhel, Loralai, Khuzdar, Awaran, Lasbela, and their surroundings were likely to experience rain, high gusts, and thunderstorms; heavy rain was expected in some of these areas.

Lahore’s Forecast

The PMD predicted that Lahore’s minimum temperatures would likely range from 22 to 33 degrees Celsius on Monday since the monsoon rain system was scheduled to pass over the capital of Punjab.

Karachi and Sindh’s Forecast

PMD Early Warning System has alerted residents of Karachi and other parts of Sindh to be prepared for the first possible thunderstorms, strong winds, and lightning starting from Monday.

It meant the arrival of sweltering weather with an unlimited supply in most parts of the province. However, isolated rainfalls were expected to occur in coastal areas such as Karachi. The maximum temperature would remain between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Alert 

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Disaster Management Authority, in the meantime, issued a supplementary alert, warning the concerned authorities of impending floods and glacier breaches in 11 districts and asking them to be vigilant.

The PDMA said that the wind would be dusty in the low-lying areas and that there would be flooding, while in the mountainous parts of K-P, there would be thunderstorms and heavy showers. PDMA explained that the melting of glaciers and increased temperature might lead to flooding.
