NEPRA has approved to increase the price of electricity for consumers by Rs 1.62 paise, which will be applicable after government notification.
This increase in electricity prices will impose an additional burden of Rs 162 billion on consumers. The increase in electricity prices was made in the year 2019-20 in terms of quarterly adjustment.
The increase in prices will be implemented after notification of the federal government. After 2018-19 adjustment will end, NEPRA says that for 2018-19, NEPRA is receiving 93 paise, 33 paise and 20 paise per unit, the previous adjustment will not affect the new increase on consumers.
