Numerous Electric Buses are Arriving in Lahore on Multiple Routes

In a statement, Punjab’s Transport Minister Bilal Akbar said that Lahore will soon see the introduction of electric buses. According to the minister, the city will have about 27 electric buses running by the end of the year, which is a big step in the direction of lowering carbon emissions and encouraging sustainable transportation. Introduction of Electric Buses; Reduction of Carbon Emissions

To reduce carbon emissions, Akbar claims that by November or December, some 27 electric buses will be running across the city. Plans to introduce hybrid buses in additional districts were also announced by the minister.

More Than 200 Feeder Service Buses Over Province Received Subsidies

In answer to a question from the MPA, Akbar said that more than 200 feeder service buses in the province capital are supported, helping about a million commuters every day with the mass transit system.

Traffic Concerns and Legislative Discussions

The House discussed traffic-related concerns during the session, and several legislators criticized the police department’s effectiveness in upholding law and order. The police department’s ability to uphold traffic discipline and enforce law and order was questioned by a few lawmakers.

Brigade General Mushtaq Ahmed Khan (retd), a member of the opposition, voiced worry that cities outside of Lahore do not have sufficient transportation infrastructure and claimed that Lahore is receiving a disproportionate amount of the province’s budget. According to him, growth in different parts of the province is uneven since Lahore gets a disproportionate amount of the province’s budget.
