Launch date confirmed for OnePlus Turbo 6 series

OnePlus has officially confirmed the launch date for its new Turbo 6 smartphone lineup after several weeks of teasers and leaks. The series will include two models, the OnePlus Turbo 6 and the OnePlus Turbo 6V, both scheduled to debut in China on 8 January.

Ahead of the launch, the company has released official images, online listings and teaser videos that reveal the design, colour options and core specifications of both phones. While pricing details are still to be announced, OnePlus has already outlined the main features that will define this new Turbo series.

Design, colours and camera setup

The OnePlus Turbo 6 features a triple rear camera setup, giving it a more premium and photography-focused look. Official renders show a modern camera module at the back, paired with a flat front display and slim bezels, in line with recent OnePlus design language.

The Turbo 6 will be available in three colour options: Chasing Light Silver, Lone Black and Wilderness Green. These shades target users who want both stylish and professional finishes, with options suitable for everyday work use as well as casual, lifestyle-focused buyers.

The OnePlus Turbo 6V, on the other hand, comes with a dual rear camera setup, making it slightly more basic on the camera side but still visually attractive. It will ship in Fearless Blue, Lone Black and Nova White colour options, offering a mix of bold and classic looks for different types of users.

Turbo 6 hardware: Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and 165Hz display

Under the hood, the OnePlus Turbo 6 is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, which places it in the upper tier of performance-focused Android phones. This processor is designed to handle heavy apps, gaming and multitasking with ease, making the Turbo 6 a strong option for power users.

The phone will be offered in multiple memory and storage combinations, giving buyers flexibility based on budget and usage needs. Confirmed configurations include 12GB RAM with 256GB storage, 12GB with 512GB, 16GB with 256GB, and 16GB with 512GB. This means even the base model starts with a high level of RAM and storage.

OnePlus has also confirmed that the Turbo 6 will feature a display with a 165Hz refresh rate. Such a high refresh rate promises very smooth scrolling, animations and gaming visuals. The phone will pack a 9,000mAh battery, which is significantly larger than many standard flagships, and it will come with an IP69 rating for dust and water resistance, adding extra durability for daily use.

Turbo 6V: slightly lower specs but still powerful

The OnePlus Turbo 6V is positioned as a slightly more affordable member of the lineup, offering a dual camera setup and a different hardware package while still targeting strong performance. Although OnePlus has not yet shared the full specification sheet, several key details have been revealed.

Storage options for the Turbo 6V include 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, 12GB with 256GB and 12GB with 512GB. These variants give users a range of choices, especially for those who want flagship-level RAM but do not necessarily need the absolute top-end configuration of the standard Turbo 6.

The Turbo 6V is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset, paired with a display that supports a 144Hz refresh rate. Like the regular Turbo 6, it is also expected to feature a 9,000mAh battery, which should translate into long screen-on time and reduced charging anxiety for heavy users.

What to expect next from OnePlus

OnePlus is expected to reveal more information about the Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V, including full specification details, camera features and pricing, closer to the 8 January launch event. Fans can also expect more promotional material and hands-on content as the company builds hype around the new series.

For smartphone enthusiasts, especially mobile gamers and heavy multitaskers, the combination of high refresh rate displays, large batteries and powerful Snapdragon chipsets makes the Turbo 6 series worth watching. Even though the lineup is launching first in China, it is likely that international markets will also see similar models or rebranded versions in the months ahead.

For users in Pakistan who follow global smartphone launches, keeping an eye on the Turbo 6 series can offer a good idea of where OnePlus is heading with performance phones in 2025. If these devices reach the local market, they could become strong competitors in the upper mid-range and flagship segments.
