PCB Adds Ireland-Zimbabwe Tri-Series
The Pakistan Cricket Board has approved the budget for a busy 2026-27 financial year, including a men’s tri-series involving Pakistan, Ireland and Zimbabwe. The approval came as part of the board’s wider budget planning for new and already scheduled cricket series across men’s, women’s and development teams.
The Ireland-Zimbabwe event will be Pakistan men’s team’s second tri-series assignment in the wider cycle. Pakistan are already scheduled to take part in a tri-nation ODI series with Sri Lanka and England this year, giving the national side more multi-team cricket before major international events.
Reports said Ireland’s men’s team will also play a Test match during their tour of Pakistan. That fixture would add red-ball value to the schedule and give both teams another opportunity to prepare outside the usual short-format bilateral calendar.
| Schedule Note: The approved budget confirms planned series, but final dates and venues may still be announced separately by PCB. |
Home and Away Tours Expand the Men’s Calendar
Pakistan are also scheduled to host Sri Lanka and New Zealand during the fiscal year. Sri Lanka will tour Pakistan for two Tests and three T20Is, while New Zealand will visit for two Test matches against the home side.
The men’s team will also travel abroad during the same financial year. Pakistan are expected to tour Ireland for a one-off Test before visiting England for five ODIs and one red-ball fixture. That gives the side a mix of home conditions, European conditions and both white-ball and red-ball cricket.
The schedule is important because Pakistan will need balance across formats. Tests against Ireland, Sri Lanka and New Zealand can help build red-ball rhythm, while the England ODI series and tri-series cricket can support white-ball planning.
| Team / Level | Series or Tour | Format | Status in FY 2026-27 |
| Pakistan men | Ireland-Zimbabwe tri-series | Multi-team | Budget approved |
| Pakistan men | Sri Lanka tour of Pakistan | 2 Tests, 3 T20Is | Scheduled |
| Pakistan men | New Zealand tour of Pakistan | 2 Tests | Scheduled |
| Pakistan men | Ireland and England tours | Test, ODIs, red-ball | Planned |
| Pakistan women | NZ home, WI away | T20Is, ODIs | Scheduled |
| Shaheens / U19 | Australia and England fixtures | T20s, one-day, 3-day | Planned |
Women’s and Development Cricket Included
The national women’s team also has important fixtures in the approved plan. Pakistan women are scheduled to host New Zealand for a three-match T20I series before touring West Indies for three ODIs and three T20Is.
Development cricket is also part of the schedule. Pakistan Shaheens are set to tour Australia for eight T20 matches, giving emerging players a strong overseas assignment. England Under-19 will visit Pakistan for three One-Day matches and two three-day fixtures.
The Sri Lanka Under-17 team is also scheduled to tour Pakistan, while PCB will host a Women’s Under-19 tri-series featuring Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. These tours can help create a pathway from junior cricket into higher-level domestic and international competition.
| Development Focus: The inclusion of Shaheens, Under-19, Under-17 and women’s youth fixtures shows PCB is budgeting beyond only the senior men’s team. |
Domestic Cricket Also Gets Board Approval
Reports further said the PCB Governing Board has approved men’s domestic, women’s domestic and regional-level tournaments for the 2026-27 financial year. This matters because domestic cricket remains the base for selection, player development and workload management across formats.
PCB’s official Board of Governors update also confirmed approval of the FY 2026-27 surplus budget and a major increase in domestic cricket funding from Rs. 3 billion to Rs. 4 billion. The same meeting approved the PSL 12 budget and endorsed administrative and financial autonomy for the league.
For Pakistan cricket, the challenge will be execution. A packed schedule can improve preparation and player depth, but only if fixtures are finalized early, workloads are managed carefully and domestic cricket is aligned with international demands.
| Cricket Takeaway: The FY 2026-27 plan gives Pakistan more cricket across levels, but fans will still need final dates, venues and squads before the calendar becomes fully clear. |
