The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said it received $1 trillion – $500 million each from the World Bank (WB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) – for battling coronavirus.

ADB announced the $500 million loan earlier this month to help the health and economic response of coronavirus in the country and “protect poor” citizens.

In a statement earlier, the ADB said the loan would help the Pakistani government “deliver social security services to the poor and vulnerable, broaden the ability of the health sector, and provide pro-poor fiscal stimulus to boost growth and create employment as the country battles the latest coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.”
