Design and display: big screen, simple build

Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi A7 Pro in Italy and Indonesia, targeting buyers who want an affordable phone with a large screen and strong battery life. The device looks similar to other entry-level models like the Redmi A5 and Poco C71, but Xiaomi is differentiating it through software and battery-focused messaging.

The Redmi A7 Pro comes with a 6.9-inch LCD at 720 × 1,600 resolution. For this class, that is a big panel built for casual browsing, video playback, and social media. Xiaomi also lists up to 800 nits brightness in High Brightness Mode and includes DC dimming, which can help reduce flicker and make screen viewing feel more comfortable for some users.

There is no official water resistance rating, but Xiaomi says the touchscreen can still be used with wet fingers. The phone measures 171.6 × 79.5 × 8.15mm and weighs 208g, which is fairly large in-hand. It includes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Color options include Black, Mist Blue, Palm Green, and Sunset Orange, with Sunset Orange limited to Indonesia.

Performance and software: full Android 16 is the key difference

The Redmi A7 Pro uses the Unisoc T7250 chipset, built on a 12nm process. It supports 4G connectivity with dual standby, so it is designed for basic use rather than high-end network speed. For many buyers in the entry segment, stable calls, messaging, and everyday apps matter more than peak benchmark scores.

Xiaomi pairs the chip with 4GB LPDDR4X RAM and offers 64GB or 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. UFS storage is useful in this price range because it generally improves app loading and file transfers compared to older storage types. A microSD slot is available for extra space.

The biggest story is software. Unlike similar devices that often run Android Go Edition, the Redmi A7 Pro runs full Android 16 with HyperOS 3. For users, that can mean better app compatibility, fewer “lite” limitations, and a more complete Android experience. It can also help the phone feel less restricted over time, especially for users who install many apps.

Connectivity features include Wi‑Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, and positioning support via GPS (L1), GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou. NFC is not included, which means contactless payments may not be available depending on local needs.

Cameras: basic setup for daylight photos and video

The camera setup is simple and clearly aimed at everyday use. On the back, the Redmi A7 Pro has a 13MP main camera with a 1/3.06-inch sensor and an f/2.2 lens. It supports 1080p video recording at 30fps. For entry-level phones, this typically means good results in daylight and acceptable social media photos, with weaker performance in low light.

On the front, there is an 8MP camera with an f/2.0 lens, also supporting 1080p at 30fps. This is enough for video calls and casual selfies, but users should keep expectations realistic, especially indoors or at night.

For buyers in this segment, the bigger decision is usually battery and software rather than camera quality. The cameras are usable, but they are not the main selling point.

Battery and pricing: long life is the headline

The Redmi A7 Pro packs a 6,000mAh battery, and Xiaomi claims it can deliver close to 2.5 days of regular use. The company also lists up to 35 hours of video playback or 77 hours of music playback on a single charge. These numbers are best treated as best-case scenarios, but they still indicate a strong battery focus.

Charging is rated at 15W, which is slower than many mid-range phones, but reasonable for an entry-level device. Xiaomi also says the battery is rated for 1,000 charge cycles, which suggests a long usable life if charging habits and heat conditions remain controlled.

Pricing is positioned for budget buyers in two markets. In Italy, the 4GB/64GB model is priced at €130, while the 128GB version costs €150. In Indonesia, pricing is IDR 1,650,000 and IDR 1,800,000, respectively. Xiaomi is also bundling two months of Spotify Premium in the offer.

The phone is currently available in these markets, and there is no clear information yet on a non‑Pro Redmi A7 model. For buyers who want the simplest value take, the main appeal is a large screen, big battery, and full Android 16 rather than a Go Edition build.
