Punjab Revenue Authority came into action against the non-filers, sales tax in January, returns to the imposition of different segments of three thousand five hundred and service fine and to providers, including collection, not to hotels, restaurants, courier services, builders, developers were hinted at.

The PR has issued notices to hotels, beauty salons, restaurants, fitness gyms, fashion designers and fashion photographers for non-submission of returns. Similarly, notices have been issued to non-filers providing services in 67 sectors including non-filer courier services and construction services. The PRA has hinted at imposing fines on non-filers for not submitting their returns immediately.
Chairman PRA Zainul Abidin Sahi said that the Punjab government had reduced the tax rate on 25 services from 16% to 5% in view of the difficulties faced by the taxpayers in the Karuna situation. Despite the tax exemption, the PR has collected sales tax of Rs 11.23 billion in January, which is the highest January record in the history of the Punjab Revenue Authority.
PRA had collected revenue of Rs 10.21 billion last year. PRA has collected 10% more in January this year. The Punjab Revenue Authority has collected Rs 85.9 billion in taxes in the first seven months of the financial year. Overall, 38% more sales tax has been collected in 7 months as compared to last year.
