Design and Display Highlights
Tecno has introduced the Camon 50 Ultra 5G as a higher-end option in its Camon 50 lineup, focusing on a bigger battery, stronger durability, and a more complete camera setup than the Pro variant. The phone comes with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display featuring a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, aimed at smoother scrolling and gaming.
The panel supports HDR10 and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while an optical fingerprint scanner sits under the display. Tecno is also using a “glass sandwich” style with curved sides for a premium look and hand-feel. On the back, the rear panel is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i.
Durability is one of the major selling points. The device carries MIL-STD-810 certification and offers up to an IP69K rating for dust and water resistance, which is positioned for users who want a tougher phone for everyday use and harsh conditions. Tecno says the phone will be available in multiple colour options, including Orange, Green, Purple and Black.
Performance, Software and Long-Term Updates
Under the hood, the Camon 50 Ultra 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset. Tecno is pairing it with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, which should be enough for heavy multitasking, gaming, and day-to-day app use. The phone does not list a card slot in the provided specs table, so storage expansion may not be available.
On the software side, the device runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16. Tecno has also committed to up to three operating system upgrades. For buyers, this matters because it signals a longer support window, which can improve security and resale value. It also means the phone is less likely to feel outdated quickly compared to devices that receive limited updates.
In practical terms, performance will depend not only on the chipset, but also on thermal management and software optimisation. With a 144Hz screen and a large battery, Tecno is clearly positioning the device as an all-rounder that targets power users without jumping into flagship pricing.
Camera Setup: 50MP Triple Rear and 3x Optical Zoom
Tecno is keeping a triple rear camera layout that mirrors the Camon 50 Pro’s approach, but the headline feature here is the telephoto lens. The rear setup includes a 50MP main wide camera, a 50MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and optical image stabilisation (OIS), and an 8MP ultrawide camera.
A dedicated telephoto with optical zoom is a big value feature in this price segment, because it helps preserve detail when you zoom in, compared to digital zoom that often looks soft. OIS can also improve low-light photos and reduce shakiness in videos, especially when you are zoomed in.
For selfies, the phone offers a 50MP front camera with autofocus, which can help keep faces sharper and reduce focus misses. If Tecno’s image processing is tuned well, this combination can appeal to users who want a camera phone feel without paying flagship prices.
Battery, Charging and Expected Price
The Camon 50 Ultra 5G is equipped with a large 6,500mAh battery. Tecno says it supports 45W wired charging and bypass charging. A bigger battery is useful for users who want longer screen time for social media, gaming, navigation, and video streaming. Bypass charging can be a plus for gamers because it can reduce heat and protect battery health by powering the phone directly during long sessions.
Pricing and availability have not been confirmed, but the device is expected to start at around €400 in the EU. If that estimate holds, Tecno appears to be targeting the upper mid-range segment, where buyers compare camera features, display quality, durability, and battery life more than branding.
For Pakistani buyers, the local price will depend on import conditions, taxes, and distribution. The clearer takeaway is the value proposition: a fast AMOLED display, a proper 3x telephoto, and rugged durability features packaged with a large battery.
