The government is ready to impose a new burden on private transporters, preparations are being made to increase the annual fee on route permits for private vehicles, route permits for class buses for passengers will be increased from Rs 950 to Rs 1400.

The Punjab Transport Department is preparing to levy additional fees on annual route permits of private transporters across the province, including Lahore, for which a summary has also been sent to the Punjab Chief Minister’s House for setting new route permits initially. The route permit of class buses will be increased from Rs 700 to Rs 1,100, M class route buses will get route permit at Rs 2,000, taxi cab will be given route permit at Rs 850 instead of Rs 600.

Goods Transport will get route permit at Rs. 2550. Motorcycle rickshaw riders will have to pay a fee of Rs. 600 for 1 year route permit. Motor cab rickshaw will now pay Rs. 600 per year instead of Rs. Will These fees will be increased after final approval from the cabinet. According to officials, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has asked for further reduction in fees.

On the other hand, for the convenience of the people, the subsidy on transport has been further increased. The one-day subsidy on public transport in Lahore has gone up to Rs. 34.2 million. But the daily subsidy has reached Rs 50 million.
