Leaders of Lahore city trade associations Babar Mahmood, Khalid Pervez, Haji Ashfaq, Tariq Feroze, Ashraf Bhatti and others visited the markets on the issue of possible closure of markets and bazaars by the Punjab government a few days before Eid-ul-Adha. Strongly opposed the possible closure, saying that the Eid of small traders and employees will be spoiled.
The decision of the Punjab government to close the markets and bazaars two or three days before Eid-ul-Adha was termed as unwise by the business community. President Khidmat Group Babar Mahmood said that the small trader and his employee are already facing a serious economic crisis, the closure of markets on Eid will spoil the Eid of small traders and employees.
Al the traders are also strongly opposed to complete closure of markets. Khalid Pervez said that why the government is trying to eliminate small business and its business? This will only worsen the situation of traders in the economic crisis. Government sympathizers also denied the Punjab government’s decision to close the markets, saying the government should refrain from making such an unpopular decision.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Punjab Jawad Rafique Malik in which arrangements for smart lockdown and implementation of SOPs in cattle markets were reviewed.
