| ⚡ QUICK TAKEAWAYS |
| • Vivo X Fold6 launches in China from $1,177 — well below the $1,500 predictions from leaked pricing ahead of launch. |
| • The 200MP ZEISS main camera uses Samsung’s 1/1.4-inch HPB sensor, previously seen on the Vivo X300 Pro telephoto unit. |
| • A 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery is the largest capacity in any foldable smartphone to date — 1,000mAh more than the X Fold5. |
| • MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition (3nm) with up to 16GB LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.1 storage. |
| • Atomic Workbench multitasking allows up to five simultaneous apps in separate windows on the inner display. |
Vivo has launched the X Fold6 in China, and the headline is the price: at $1,177 for the base model, it significantly undercuts the $1,500 figure that pre-launch leaks had widely predicted. The phone also delivers substantial hardware upgrades over its predecessor — led by a 200MP ZEISS main camera, the largest battery ever shipped in a foldable, and Mediatek’s flagship 3nm chip.

200MP ZEISS Camera — The Flagship Claim
The 200MP main camera is the X Fold6’s most headline-grabbing specification. It uses Samsung’s HPB sensor measuring 1/1.4 inches — a large sensor for a smartphone camera, offering better light gathering and per-pixel quality compared to the smaller sensors typically used in 200MP configurations. The HPB sensor was previously used as the telephoto camera in the Vivo X300 and X300 Pro, where it established a strong performance reputation. In the X Fold6, it moves to the primary position with ZEISS glass and optical image stabilisation.
The camera system is completed by a 50MP Sony LYT-602 periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom and OIS, and a 50MP ultrawide. For buyers who want to push the telephoto further, Vivo is offering an optional ZEISS Teleconverter G2 accessory that extends the system to a 200mm equivalent focal length. Each display also has its own 20MP front camera, making the X Fold6 a genuinely versatile content creation platform across both cover and inner display use.
The Battery Record: 7,000mAh in a Foldable
At 7,000mAh, the X Fold6 has the largest battery ever shipped in a foldable smartphone — 1,000mAh more than the X Fold5 and ahead of any Samsung Galaxy Z Fold configuration. The cell uses silicon-carbon chemistry, which achieves this capacity without the proportional increase in physical size and weight that conventional lithium-ion cells would require. The 80W wired charging speed should fill the large cell in approximately 60–70 minutes, and 40W wireless charging is also supported, matching the X Fold5’s charging performance while carrying a significantly larger cell.
| 💰 WHY THE PRICE SURPRISED EVERYONE
The global memory crisis — caused by constrained NAND flash and DRAM supply from 2025 into 2026 — was widely cited as the reason pre-launch leaks predicted a $1,500+ price. Vivo’s ability to launch the X Fold6 at $1,177 despite including 16GB LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.1 storage in the lineup suggests either supply normalisation, aggressive supplier pricing, or Vivo accepting tighter margins on the China launch to establish market position. |
Displays and Design
The inner AMOLED display measures 8.02 inches with a resolution of 2504 x 2312 pixels in a nearly square 4:3.7 aspect ratio — a format optimised for split-screen multitasking and document viewing. The outer display is 6.51 inches at 2528 x 1120 pixels in a tall 20.3:9 ratio, giving it a conventional phone feel in folded mode. Both panels reach a peak local brightness of 5,000 nits and operate at 120Hz. The phone carries IP58 and IP59 ratings — the latter covering high-temperature pressurised water jets, which is the same combination as Tecno’s Camon Slim but unusually comprehensive for a foldable device given the mechanical complexity of the hinge.
Performance and Multitasking
The MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition is the current-generation flagship chipset from MediaTek, built on a 3nm process. The Super Edition variant is a higher-binned, higher-clocked version of the standard Dimensity 9500. With up to 16GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM — the fastest LPDDR5 variant — and UFS 4.1 storage at up to 1TB, the X Fold6’s performance configuration sits at the top of what is currently available in any smartphone.
Vivo’s Atomic Workbench multitasking feature has been updated to support five simultaneous apps running in their own windows on the inner display — one more than the previous generation’s four-app limit. For a business or power user who bought a foldable specifically for the large screen productivity advantage, this is a meaningful capability upgrade. The phone runs OriginOS 6 Fold on Android 16, Vivo’s China-market OS.
